GABAnode Utilities Privacy Policy

Publisher: GABAnode Lab

Effective date: August 10, 2026

Extension version: 0.7.1

Plain-Language Summary

GABAnode Utilities performs focused accessibility checks locally in the user’s browser. The extension reads the current webpage only to produce the accessibility results requested by the user.

GABAnode Lab does not receive, sell, share, or retain inspected webpage content, browsing activity, or accessibility results.

Information Processed on the User’s Device

When the user opens the extension and starts an inspection, GABAnode Utilities may process:

  • The current webpage’s URL and title
  • Rendered text and document structure
  • Headings, landmarks, controls, labels, accessible names, and roles
  • Keyboard focus order
  • Element sizes, spacing, styles, colors, and layout measurements
  • Pointer movement and a click while the DOM element picker is active
  • Markup and computed properties for an element selected by the user

Password value attributes are redacted from selected markup.

How Information Is Used

This information is used only to provide the extension’s single purpose: local accessibility inspection and evidence generation for the webpage selected by the user.

Results are displayed temporarily in the extension’s side panel. They remain on the user’s device and are cleared when the inspected page changes or the extension context closes.

Data Collection and Transmission

GABAnode Utilities does not transmit webpage content, URLs, inspection results, or usage activity to GABAnode Lab or any third party.

The extension does not use:

  • Analytics or tracking
  • Advertising
  • Tracking pixels
  • External APIs
  • Application servers
  • Cookies
  • Remote executable code
  • Remotely hosted JavaScript or WebAssembly

Reports and Retention

Copy and download features run only when selected by the user.

Copied JSON is placed on the user’s device clipboard. HTML, CSV, and JSON reports are downloaded to a location controlled by the user.

GABAnode Utilities does not maintain an application database and does not use Chrome storage to retain inspection results.

Chrome Permissions

GABAnode Utilities uses the following permissions:

  • activeTab: Provides temporary access to the current webpage after the user invokes the extension.
  • scripting: Runs the packaged accessibility analyzer in the authorized webpage.
  • sidePanel: Displays the accessibility workspace beside the webpage.
  • Optional site access: Lets the user approve access to the current HTTP or HTTPS website when temporary access is unavailable or has expired.

The extension does not require blanket access to every website during installation. Chrome displays optional site-access requests, and users can remove previously approved access through Chrome’s extension controls.

Data Sharing and Sale

GABAnode Lab does not sell, transfer, disclose, or provide user data to third parties.

Information processed by the extension is not used for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose unrelated to accessibility inspection.

Limited Use Disclosure

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information is used only to provide or improve the extension’s user-facing accessibility inspection features. Humans at GABAnode Lab cannot read inspected information because it is not transmitted to GABAnode Lab.

User Control

Users control when a webpage is inspected, when optional site access is granted, and when reports are copied or downloaded.

Approved site access can be removed through Chrome’s extension settings. Uninstalling the extension removes the extension and its permissions.

Changes and Questions

Material changes to this policy will be reflected on this page and in the Chrome Web Store listing.
